Job Description

We are looking for an accomplished and creative Head Chef to lead the kitchen team of a busy restaurant. The successful candidate will bring strong culinary expertise, excellent leadership, and a commitment to maintaining consistently high food and service standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and motivate the kitchen team to maintain efficient daily operations.
• Design and develop menus that reflect the restaurant’s concept and customer preferences.
• Oversee food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation.
• Maintain consistent standards for taste, quality, portion control, and presentation.
• Manage food costs, stock levels, ordering, and kitchen supplies.
• Monitor food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and kitchen cleanliness.
• Train kitchen staff on recipes, preparation techniques, equipment use, and safety procedures.
• Coordinate with restaurant management to plan menus, promotions, and special dining events.
• Monitor kitchen performance and address operational issues promptly.
• Minimise food waste while maintaining high standards of quality.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment is used correctly and maintained appropriately.
• Create staff schedules and manage kitchen workflow during busy service periods.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Head Chef, Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or senior culinary professional in a restaurant.
• Strong knowledge of modern and traditional cooking techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and develop a diverse kitchen team.
• Culinary arts qualification or recognised professional chef certification preferred.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen sanitation standards.
• Excellent menu planning, costing, and inventory management skills.
• Creativity and a strong eye for food presentation.
• Ability to remain organised and composed in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
