Head Barista

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head Barista to lead the coffee shop’s bar operations and help create an exceptional experience for every customer. The ideal candidate will combine strong coffee knowledge with leadership, creativity, and a commitment to consistent quality. You will guide the barista team, maintain high service standards, and contribute to an inviting coffee shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the barista team during daily operations.
• Prepare and serve high-quality espresso beverages, brewed coffee, and specialty drinks.
• Maintain consistency in flavour, presentation, portioning, and beverage quality.
• Train, coach, and support baristas to improve technical and customer service skills.
• Monitor coffee equipment and ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and calibration.
• Manage coffee stock, ingredients, and bar supplies to minimise waste.
• Develop and introduce new beverages and seasonal coffee offerings.
• Ensure the coffee bar remains clean, organised, and fully prepared for service.
• Handle customer feedback professionally and resolve service concerns effectively.
• Work closely with management to improve bar performance and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Barista, Senior Barista, or similar coffee-focused role.
• Strong knowledge of espresso preparation, brewing methods, milk steaming, and latte art.
• Previous team leadership or supervisory experience is highly desirable.
• Excellent understanding of coffee beans, flavour profiles, and extraction techniques.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to train and motivate team members effectively.
• Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced coffee shop.
• Professional coffee training or recognised barista certification is an advantage.
