Job Description

Our cafe is looking for a talented and imaginative Confectionery Chef to join our kitchen team. We are passionate about serving beautifully crafted sweets, pastries, cakes, and other confectionery creations that give guests something special to enjoy. The successful candidate will bring creativity, precision, and consistency to every preparation while maintaining high standards of taste, presentation, and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cakes, pastries, cookies, chocolates, desserts, and other confectionery products.
• Develop and refine recipes while introducing fresh and appealing product ideas.
• Measure and combine ingredients accurately according to established recipes.
• Decorate and present confectionery items to a high visual standard.
• Monitor baking temperatures, timings, textures, and product consistency.
• Maintain clean, organised, and hygienic workstations throughout production.
• Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.
• Manage daily preparation schedules to ensure products are ready on time.
• Minimise waste through careful portioning, storage, and ingredient handling.
• Collaborate with the cafe team to support seasonal menus and special orders.

Qualifications

• Diploma or professional qualification in Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts, Baking, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Confectionery Chef, Pastry Chef, Baker, or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of baking techniques, confectionery production, and dessert preparation.
• Excellent attention to detail and presentation.
• Ability to follow recipes while demonstrating creativity and innovation.
• Good understanding of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen hygiene standards.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple preparations efficiently.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced cafe environment.
• Good teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
