Commis Chef
Job Description
A busy, creative restaurant is looking for a motivated Commis Chef to join the kitchen brigade. This role is perfect for someone eager to build strong culinary foundations, work closely with experienced chefs, and grow in a fast-paced professional kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Assist in basic food preparation including chopping, washing, and portioning ingredients
- Support senior chefs in cooking, plating, and presentation of dishes
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen stations at all times
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards strictly
- Help with stock rotation, storage, and inventory checks
- Work efficiently during busy service periods while staying attentive to detail
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen or catering experience is an advantage but not required
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices
- Willingness to learn and take instruction from senior chefs
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Good teamwork, communication, and time management skills
- Passion for cooking and interest in culinary development
