Café Operations Supervisor

Job Description

We are seeking a capable and organised Café Operations Supervisor to oversee daily café activities and help maintain efficient service from opening through closing. The successful candidate will coordinate staff, monitor service standards, support inventory control, and ensure customers receive a consistently positive experience. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong leadership with practical café operations knowledge and can keep the team focused in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily café operations and coordinate staff across service areas.
• Allocate duties, organise shifts, and monitor employee performance.
• Ensure food, beverages, and customer orders are prepared and served according to established standards.
• Monitor cleanliness, hygiene, safety, and presentation throughout the café.
• Manage customer concerns professionally and resolve service issues promptly.
• Track stock levels and coordinate replenishment of ingredients, beverages, packaging, and supplies.
• Support cash handling, sales reconciliation, and daily operational reporting.
• Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching to the café team.
• Help control operating costs while maintaining service quality.
• Coordinate with management on operational improvements and staffing requirements.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Food Service Management, or a related field is preferred.
• 2 to 4 years of experience in café, restaurant, food service, or retail operations.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of café service procedures, food safety, and workplace hygiene.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy café environment.
• Strong customer service and team-building abilities.
• Comfortable using point-of-sale systems, inventory tools, and basic operational software.
