Cafe Assistant

Job Description

Our cafe is a lively and welcoming place where great food, quality drinks, and friendly service come together. We are looking for a Cafe Assistant to join our team and help keep daily operations running smoothly. The successful candidate will support food and drink preparation, maintain clean and organised service areas, and ensure customers receive attentive and efficient service from the moment they arrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome customers warmly and assist with enquiries, orders, and general requests.
• Support the preparation and presentation of food, beverages, and cafe items.
• Take customer orders accurately and process payments when required.
• Keep tables, counters, equipment, and service areas clean and well organised.
• Restock ingredients, packaging, beverages, and other supplies as needed.
• Assist other cafe team members during busy service periods.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards at all times.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages or damaged items to the supervisor.
• Handle customer concerns politely and escalate issues when necessary.
• Help with opening and closing duties according to cafe procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous experience in a cafe, restaurant, food service, or customer-facing environment is an advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Friendly, reliable, and professional approach to customer service.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced cafe environment.
• Good attention to cleanliness, organisation, and detail.
• Basic numeracy and ability to handle transactions accurately.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safe handling practices is preferred.
• A genuine interest in food, beverages, and delivering positive customer experiences.
