Assistant Bar Manager

Job Description

Our bar is looking for an organised and motivated Assistant Bar Manager to support daily operations and help maintain an outstanding guest experience. The role is ideal for someone who combines strong leadership with practical bar knowledge, sound judgement, and excellent customer service. You will work closely with the Bar Manager and team to keep service efficient, standards consistent, and the bar running smoothly during busy periods.

Responsibilities

• Support the Bar Manager in overseeing daily bar operations and service.
• Supervise bartenders, barbacks, and other bar staff during assigned shifts.
• Assist with staff scheduling, task allocation, training, and performance monitoring.
• Ensure drinks are prepared and served according to established quality standards.
• Monitor inventory levels, assist with stock ordering, and minimise waste.
• Maintain accurate records of stock, sales, breakages, and daily operations.
• Handle customer enquiries, feedback, and service concerns professionally.
• Ensure the bar area, equipment, and storage spaces remain clean and organised.
• Promote responsible service practices and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and end-of-shift checks.
• Step in for the Bar Manager when required and provide effective leadership to the team.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Food and Beverage Management, or a related field is preferred.
• 2 or more years of experience in a bar, restaurant, or similar service environment.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, beers, and general bar service.
• Good understanding of stock control, cash handling, and cost management.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to remain calm, organised, and decisive during busy service periods.
• Strong attention to detail and a professional approach to team management.
