Assistant Bar Manager

Job Description

We are looking for a confident and motivated Assistant Bar Manager to support the daily operations of a busy bar. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading a team, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards in beverage quality, cleanliness, and efficiency. You will work closely with the Bar Manager to create a welcoming atmosphere while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the bar.
• Support the Bar Manager in supervising, coaching, and motivating bar staff.
• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to a high standard.
• Ensure exceptional customer service and promptly resolve customer concerns.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory control and ordering supplies.
• Maintain accurate cash handling and end-of-shift reconciliation procedures.
• Ensure the bar remains clean, organised, and fully stocked throughout each shift.
• Enforce food safety, hygiene, and responsible alcohol service standards.
• Help create staff schedules and coordinate shift coverage when required.
• Assist with introducing seasonal drinks, promotions, and special events.
• Monitor equipment and report maintenance issues promptly.
• Support training for new team members and encourage continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a bar supervisory, senior bartender, or assistant management role.
• Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, beers, and beverage preparation techniques.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong organisational and time management abilities.
• Experience with point-of-sale systems and cash handling procedures.
• Ability to solve problems quickly and make sound operational decisions.
