Job Description

Our restaurant is seeking an accomplished and creative Head Chef to lead the kitchen team and shape an exceptional dining experience. We are looking for a culinary professional who combines strong leadership with technical expertise, menu creativity, and a commitment to consistent food quality. The successful candidate will oversee daily kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of presentation, flavour, hygiene, and service.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and motivate the kitchen team to deliver consistently high-quality dishes.
• Develop and update menus that reflect current dining trends and customer preferences.
• Supervise food preparation, cooking, plating, and service during busy periods.
• Establish and maintain recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
• Monitor food costs, stock levels, waste, and kitchen budgets.
• Work closely with restaurant management to coordinate smooth daily operations.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
• Manage kitchen schedules, staff performance, and shift allocation.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers and ensure the quality of ingredients.
• Introduce efficient kitchen procedures that improve productivity and reduce waste.

Qualifications

• Culinary Arts, Professional Cookery, or a related qualification.
• At least 5 years of professional kitchen experience, including experience in a senior chef or kitchen leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, culinary techniques, menu development, and kitchen operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and manage a diverse kitchen team.
• Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene, and quality-control standards.
• Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Creativity and a passion for developing distinctive, high-quality dishes.
• Ability to remain calm, organised, and decisive in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
