Kitchen Steward

Job Description

Our restaurant is committed to delivering excellent food and attentive service in a clean, organized, and professional environment. We are looking for a dependable Kitchen Steward to support our kitchen team by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout daily operations. The successful candidate will play an important role in keeping kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, and workspaces ready for efficient service.

Responsibilities

• Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness across kitchen floors, workstations, sinks, storage areas, and preparation spaces.
• Assist kitchen staff with basic cleaning and support duties during busy service periods.
• Dispose of waste properly and maintain designated waste areas.
• Follow restaurant sanitation, hygiene, and food safety procedures.
• Replenish cleaning supplies and report shortages to the appropriate supervisor.
• Handle cleaning equipment and chemicals safely according to established procedures.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing kitchen supplies when required.
• Keep washing and cleaning areas orderly throughout each shift.
• Report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, or safety hazards promptly.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Steward, Dishwasher, Cleaner, or in a similar restaurant role is advantageous.
• Good understanding of kitchen cleanliness and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Physically capable of standing for extended periods and handling routine lifting.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Good attention to detail and a positive attitude toward supporting the kitchen team.
• Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures is an advantage.
