Finance Officer

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Finance Officer to support the financial operations of our restaurant. The successful candidate will help maintain accurate financial records, monitor transactions, manage reconciliations, and provide reliable financial information to support sound business decisions. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong accounting knowledge with excellent organisation, accuracy, and a practical understanding of restaurant operations.

Responsibilities

• Record and maintain accurate daily financial transactions.
• Monitor sales, expenses, invoices, and payment records.
• Prepare daily and monthly financial reports for management.
• Reconcile cash, card, bank, and point-of-sale transactions.
• Process supplier invoices and assist with payment scheduling.
• Monitor restaurant expenses and identify discrepancies or unusual transactions.
• Assist with payroll preparation and staff payment records.
• Maintain organised financial documentation and accounting records.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control activities.
• Work closely with management, suppliers, and other departments to resolve financial issues.
• Ensure financial procedures comply with company policies and applicable regulations.
• Assist with audits and provide requested financial information when required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting certification or progress towards certification is an advantage.
• 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, preferably within a restaurant, food service, retail, or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, financial reporting, and expense management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to manage confidential financial information responsibly.
• Good communication, organisation, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with restaurant management and staff.
• Knowledge of inventory costing and food-cost monitoring is an advantage.
