Key Responsibilities

• Prepare a wide variety of cakes, pastries, desserts, chocolates, candies, and other confectionery items.
• Develop seasonal dessert menus and introduce new recipes that enhance the café’s offerings.
• Decorate cakes and desserts to a consistently high presentation standard.
• Ensure all confectionery products meet quality, taste, and freshness standards.
• Monitor ingredient inventory and communicate replenishment needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pastry and confectionery workstation.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Minimise waste through efficient production planning and proper ingredient handling.
• Work closely with the kitchen and café teams to ensure timely preparation for daily service and special orders.
• Train and support junior kitchen staff when required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Confectionery Chef, Pastry Chef, or in a similar role within a café, bakery, restaurant, or hotel.
• Professional training or certification in pastry arts, confectionery, baking, or culinary arts is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of confectionery techniques, chocolate work, sugar craft, and dessert presentation.
• Experience producing high-quality cakes, pastries, and specialty desserts.
• Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Excellent creativity with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining consistency and quality.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
