Sous Chef
Job Description
There’s a rhythm in every great kitchen, and the Sous Chef is right at the center of it. We’re looking for someone who can bring calm precision during busy services, support the Head Chef, and help shape a kitchen where quality never slips, no matter how full the pass gets. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and creative in equal measure. You will be involved in day-to-day kitchen operations, guiding junior staff, and ensuring every plate leaving the kitchen reflects consistency, flavour, and care.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing daily kitchen operations
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation standards
- Supervise and support kitchen staff during service
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards at all times
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory control
- Help develop new menu ideas and seasonal specials
- Ensure consistency in portioning, taste, and presentation
- Step in to lead the kitchen when required
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a busy restaurant
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations and food safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume environment
- Good leadership and communication skills
- Creative mindset with attention to detail in food presentation
- Ability to follow instructions while also taking initiative
- Culinary training or professional certification is an advantage
